sage bill of materials

The Bill of Materials (BOM) or Product Structure module provides all the functions to maintain details of component and sub-assemblies that comprise a complete assembly.

The Bill of Materials consists of a list of component parts and sub-assemblies that comprise an assembly. Each sub-assembly can be further broken down through its own BOM. The BOM is therefore multi-level, allowing an infinite number of levels.

Each assembly and component must already exist on the Sage Line 100 Stock Control file. The BOM module therefore requires the Sage Line 100 Stock Control module to operate.

The BOM module is integrated with other Sage Line 100 modules through the Sovman Works Order and Materials Planning modules.

Features

  • A verification function ensures that BOMs may not be utilised until verified by an engineer.
  • Effective dates control engineering changes.
  • Unlimited lines of comments or text may be added for each BOM and for each component within the BOM. Standard phrases may be stored in library text.
  • Using a mass replace function, you can substitute one component for another throughout all Bills of Materials. You can also delete one component from all BOMs.
  • The duplicate function allows you to copy a complete BOM to a new BOM to facilitate creation of similar structures.
  • Comprehensive enquiry and reporting functions provide explosion and where-used listings for any BOM or component. These may be produced from a single level or indented or as tree diagrams.
  • Free text items or non stock lines may also be added.
  • Full factoring at both assembly and component level, i.e. quantities-per may be expressed in any unit and will be converted to the stocked-in unit automatically.
  • Separate drawing register.
  • Variable items may be specified within a BOM. The quantity for these variables is treated as an average quantity required for costing and planning purposes. The actual quantity required may be entered when a works order is released.
  • Stock items may be created 'on the fly' when creating BOMs.
  • The BOM uses multi-depots and locations through the Sovman Works Order and Materials Planning modules.
  • Full BOM costing including material, labour, setup and overhead costs. Materials may be costed at standard cost, average or latest price. Labour may be calculated as a labour rate (specified at product group) times a labour time or analysed by operations and works centres using the Sovman Capacity Planning module. Overhead may be calculated as a percentage of labour. The costing is fully integrated with Sage Line 100 Stock Control and Nominal Ledger.
